Residents in Peace River are being urged to stay alert as the community enters a high-risk period during the spring break-up.
Officials warn that water levels are rising, especially in low-lying areas like Lower West Peace, Downtown, the North End, Heart River, and Pat’s Creek.
The Heart River is starting to break up and Pats Creek is now flowing into the Peace River.
According to Alberta River Basins, the Smoky River ice jam has now reached the Peace River.
At this time, there is no immediate flood impact. However, residents are urged to take precautions as conditions can change very quickly.
