The 2024 Indigenous Educators Gathering took place in Edmonton this year in the Fantasyland Hotel banquet facilities.
The event began in a good way with a pipe ceremony and grand entry attended by several dignitaries including the Lieutenant Governor.
Hosted by the College of Alberta School Superintendent, the event was attended by not only teachers and educators, but also Elders and knowledge keepers. Elder Wilton Goodstriker started with the keynote on this years theme: Kinship
Cliff Cardinal spoke during the knowledge keeper circle about the importance of our relationships with our children and how they are vital to their success in their education.
Chief Superintendent Bryan Szumlas from the Calgary Catholic School District spoke with Windspeaker Radio Network about one of his key takeaways from the event.
