The Strathcona Christmas Bureau is looking for a temporary depot as it gets ready for its 2026 Christmas campaign.
The volunteer-run organization is in need of 8,000 to 10,000 square feet of heated space that includes washrooms, parking, and preferably an overhead door or loading dock. The required space is needed from October 1 to December 31, with October 15 being the latest possible move-in date.
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate over the years to have local property owners and businesses assist us in providing space,” said bureau chair Jodi Powell.
“This year, however, we’ve been searching for months, and despite reaching out to numerous property owners, businesses, and leasing agents, we have not yet secured a suitable location.”
The bureau has been supporting local families, seniors, and individuals facing hardship for 47 years. If a donated space is unavailable, they are open to discussing rent or other arrangements. Last year, the Christmas Bureau assisted approximately 1,650 people, including 500 children and 300 teens. They raised $147,681, with a goal of $150,000 for this year.
“We know the right space is out there somewhere,” Powell stated.
“At this point, even a lead or an introduction could make all the difference.”
