Purolator’s Red Bag Campaign Hits Edmonton as Residents asked to Stock Up shelves at Food Bank

This week marks the arrival of Purolator’s fourth yearly Tackle Hunger National Red Bag drive in Edmonton.

Couriers dropped off 4,000 distinctive red reusable bags at residences throughout the city, inviting households to pack them with non perishable groceries and leave them outside for pickup.

On Saturday, Purolator drivers will gather the filled bags and transport the donations straight to the Edmonton Food Bank.

The Alberta capital joins 20 other Canadian cities and towns taking part in the national effort.

Since the program launched in 2023, it has already generated the equivalent of over 515,000 meals, and organizers plan to circulate more than 66,000 of the reusable bags across the country in the current campaign.

Each red bag comes with a complete list of suggested items.

Anyone who did not find a bag on their doorstep can contribute through Purolator’s online Virtual Red Bag option. 

You can also drop non perishable food items off at Edmonton Food Banks main warehouse at 11508-120 Street or at local fire stations.
