The 2026 Wood Buffalo Excellence in Arts Awards — known locally as the Buffys — will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, at Keyano Theatre in Fort McMurray.
The annual event celebrates local artists, arts groups and organizations for their contributions to the region’s cultural life.
The evening will feature live performances, visual art and other creative experiences, transforming the theatre into a showcase of regional talent.
Electric Midnight is the theme for this years event, drawing inspiration from 1970s music culture, glam rock, neon nightlife and the energy of the stage.
Arts council Wood Buffalo says its long-term vision is a creatively empowered Wood Buffalo, with strategic priorities focused on growing a thriving arts community, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, strengthening partnerships and advocating for the arts as an essential part of healthy, connected communities.
Its work is also guided by a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, inclusion and removing barriers to participation in the arts.
