Eligible participants in the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) will automatically receive a single $150 payment intended to help cover expenses linked to applying for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
Distribution of these payments is scheduled to begin on September 17, following a federal announcement made Thursday.
The $150 amount is available as a supplemental payment for every approved DTC certificate that establishes eligibility for the CDB. This covers people who received their benefits in a lump sum for an entire payment period, those who collected the benefit previously, and even individuals who obtained only one payment and later became ineligible. No separate application is required. Payment timing depends on when a person first qualifies for the CDB:
- Individuals who became eligible between July 2025 and July 2026 will receive the money on September 17.
- Those who become eligible after July 2027, along with people approved for a new Disability Tax Credit certificate, are expected to get the payment in early 2027.
