A mural honouring Canadian veterans and military personnel will be added in a section of 10th Street in front of Cenotaph Park in Cold Lake.
This mural is part of the ongoing repaving work in the area. The design will incorporate maple leaves in various colors, chosen to represent the environmental branches of the Canadian Armed Forces and the different theatres where Canadian personnel have served.
Cenotaph Park is located just north of the North Fire Hall and near the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 211. In the past, the park has hosted ceremonies commemorating the Battle of Britain, as well as a smaller community Remembrance Day ceremony.
The hope is that the mural will be done before the 2026 Battle of Britain ceremony in September, which takes place at the park.
