The Otipemisiwak Métis Government will host its 98th Annual Citizens’ Gathering from August 20-22 at the Multi-Rec Centre in Slave Lake. The gathering will bring citizens together for community engagement, updates and opportunities to connect as the Métis Government continues to moving forward in a good way.
Madame President of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Andrea Sandmaier spoke with CFWE, on the 98-year tradition of Citizens’ Gathering, emphasizing its importance in ensuring Métis voices are heard and represented.

President Sandmaier highlights this year’s theme of Citizens’ Gathering titled ê pimohteyahk miyo pimohtewin – We Walk Forward in a Good Way, comes from the tradition of lobsticks and acknowledging how far we have come on the journey of self-governance.
President Sandmaier speaks on the fundamental importance of Citizens’ Gathering is for all Métis people to feel heard, while discussing topics and changes needed to be made with the OMG.
