The intersection at 99 Street and 103A Avenue, located between City Hall and the Law Courts building, is expected to fully reopen this week after rehabilitation work was completed as part of a pedway project. Crews reopened sections of the street and avenue on Friday evening, allowing drivers to access the City Hall parkade from 103A and 102A avenues, according to a statement from the City of Edmonton.
Over the next few days, some turns from 103A Avenue onto 99 Street will be accessible, and the bike lane on the west side of 99 Street at City Hall is also expected to be fully open this week. However, a portion of 99 Street at 102A Avenue will close for approximately a month to facilitate the construction of a roadway contraction joint.
The underground pedway project, which connects the Churchill LRT Station to the Station Lands development north of 103A Avenue, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Construction of the pedway began two years ago.
