Métis Days concluded in Fort McKay after a weekend filled with culture, community, and celebration. During this annual event, held from August 7 to 9 at the Fort McKay Community Centre, a $90,000 investment was announced to support cultural programming.
The funds will be used to enhance cultural programming for the Nation and its members. The McKay Métis Group serves as the business arm of the Fort McKay Métis Nation, with economic benefits generated through its operations returning to the Nation and its members.
The organization emphasizes that this contribution aligns with its broader mission to create opportunities while supporting the community. The announcement was made during a well-attended Métis Days celebration that brought together Nation members, families, friends, and visitors for three days of activities.
This annual gathering honors Métis culture through traditional activities, storytelling, music, and dancing, providing a special opportunity for the community to share traditions and celebrate their heritage.
