Treaty No. 6 Recognition Day is observed annually on August 23rd.
The Treaty No. 6 150th Year Commemoration Celebration is taking place at Churchill Square in Edmonton on Monday, August 17. This significant gathering will be commemorating 150 years since First Nations and the Crown entered into Treaty No. 6 and reminds us of our longstanding commitments, promises and obligations.
Throughout the week, there are numerous events planned and you’re asked to come together in an act of reconciliation through a shared commitment to work positively together in a relationship founded on honour and respect.
Angel Houle is the Municipal Affairs Coordinator with Treaty No. 6, and spoke to CFWE about their Commemoration Celebration on Monday and what she hopes people take away from the day.
