Sunset Recycling is temporarily closed after a fire broke out on Friday evening.
Regional Emergency Services say that crews fought the blaze through Friday night into Saturday, and spent almost 21 hours at the scene.
The fire was reported after 6 p.m. Friday, when Fort McMurray firefighters responded to heavy black smoke coming from the landfill site. Crews arrived to a significant fire burning within a large pile of scrap metal at Sunset Recycling.
Tankers and pumpers from Saprae Creek and Anzac were called in as additional resources, while Suncor and Syncrude provided firefighting efforts and resources. Final fire units left the site before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
