Early Wednesday morning, RCMP shot a suspect during a domestic call.
The domestic situation involving a weapon in Fox Creek was reported to RCMP around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Throughout the night, police say that they tried to get the man to surrender multiple times.
In a statement on Wednesday, RCMP said “However, at 5:18 a.m., there was a confrontration with the suspect which resulted in an officer discharging their service firearm, striking the suspect.”
Police on scene gave emergency care until Stars Air Ambulence brought the suspect to hospital.
No one else was injured.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for Fox Creek on 5A Street between 7 Avenue and 8 Avenue around 5:30 a.m. for 30 minutes.
ASIRT will be investigating the situation, and are investigating another police shooting in northern Alberta on Tuesday.
