On Tuesday July 29, Wood Buffalo RCMP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a woman armed with a shotgun who was attempting to enter a residence.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:41 p.m. to Larocque Avenue after receiving reports that the woman was carrying a firearm.
With support from Police Dog Services and an RPAS (drone) unit, police quickly established containment in the area.
The 39-year-old woman, a resident of Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody without incident. The shotgun and ammunition were seized at the scene.
No injuries occurred and no property was damaged during the event.
The woman faces multiple charges, including Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, Two counts of careless use of a firearm & one count of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.
She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a judicial interim release hearing. As an Information has not yet been sworn, her name will not be released at this time.
