Representatives from the Town, Peace River & District Chamber of Commerce, Peace Regional RCMP, Crime Stoppers Association of Edmonton and Northern Alberta, and our Community Peace Officer program gathered after the first signs were installed
Crime Stoppers has rolled out its new rural community sign program in the Peace River region.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between Crime Stoppers, local RCMP detachments, and neighboring municipalities.
The signs aim to empower residents to report suspicious activity anonymously while sending a clear message to potential offenders that their communities are vigilant and watching.
Local RCMP have identified drug trafficking and copper wire theft as persistent challenges in the area.
Peace River Town Councillor Orren Ford, who was instrumental in bringing the program forward, expressed optimism about the strong regional support and the speed with which the initiative came together.
“With the theft and copper theft and everything that’s happening in our area, it’s a big to do,” said Ford.
According to Crime Stoppers, anonymous tips provided to Northern Alberta RCMP in 2025 helped result in 34 arrests, 86 charges laid, and the recovery of more than $243,000 in drugs, stolen property, and other assets.
