Grande Prairie Enforcement Services is reminding drivers to reduce their speed in construction zones throughout the city, following a recent blitz where nearly two dozen citations were issued in just one hour. Peace Officers report that this short time frame at 116 Avenue and 96 Street highlights the ongoing issue of unsafe driving behaviors.
Sergeant Ryan Hoffman indicates that enforcement efforts are revealing that many drivers continue to ignore posted speed limits and other traffic regulations in work zones.
Hoffman emphasizes that speed limits are established to protect both workers and the various hazards present in these areas. He also notes that even a slight increase in speed can greatly impair a driver’s ability to respond to unexpected situations.
