Mounties in Fort McMurray are investigating after an incident early Friday morning.
At approximately 4:45am, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for a stabbing in downtown Fort McMurray. Police located a 37-year-old male victim in the parking lot at 10002 Franklin Avenue suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported by EMS to Northern Lights Regional Health Center.
RCMP contained the area with assistance from Police Dog Services and RPAS. The continued use of drone technology helped police locate the suspects quickly and safely, while reducing risks to the public and officers.
The two suspects, found hiding in nearby bushes, were arrested without incident. The victim and suspects were not previously known to one another.
Two suspects, a 34-year-old female resident of Fort McMurray and a 35-year-old male resident of Grande Prairie, are facing multiple charges including Aggravated Assault.
The suspects, who cannot be named until an Information is sworn, remain in police custody awaiting judicial interim hearings.
