Two children playing in a wooded area of Red Deer’s Michener Hill neighbourhood made a grim discovery on Sunday evening, according to RCMP.
Around 6:15pm, the children found human remains.
Red Deer RCMP responded to the scene and have launched an investigation.
The Alberta Medical Examiner’s Office is working to positively identify the deceased. Police initially described the death as suspicious. However, a preliminary investigation has determined it is non-criminal.
No further details about the identity or circumstances have been released at this time.
