Six playgrounds across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will be getting upgrades this summer, as they’ll be replacing aging equipment and improving accessibility at parks in Fort McMurray, Conklin and Anzac.
St. Anne’s Park, Westview Park, Frank LaCroix playground, Syncrude Athletic Park, Anzac Community School and the Conklin Multiplex will all see construction taking place this season.
Work will focus on replacing aging equipment and surfacing while improving safety, accessibility and long-term durability. Beacon Hill and Syncrude Athletic Park playgrounds will be getting accessible play equipment and rubber safety surfacing designed for children of all abilities.
Construction will continue throughout the summer. Residents are expected to see temporary playground closures, construction fencing, and occasional pathway or sidewalk disruptions near the parks.
The municipality is reminding residents to stay clear of active construction zones, follow posted signage and keep children out of fenced work zones while the construction is underway.
