The Alberta RCMP has reported that one person was fatally shot by a Mountie on Thursday afternoon in Cold Lake. At approximately 4:48 p.m. on June 25, officers responded to a domestic call for assistance and discovered that the suspect was armed with a firearm. Despite attempts to communicate with the individual, the efforts were unsuccessful. An altercation ensued, during which at least one officer discharged their service weapon, striking the suspect, who was subsequently declared dead at the scene.
Fortunately, two individuals were able to escape from the residence safely before the incident occurred, and no other injuries were reported. Due to the nature of the case, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been notified regarding the shooting.
