The 2026 McMurray Métis Fest takes place June 27 & 28 at McDonald Island Park, bringing together community members and visitors for a weekend of Métis culture, entertainment, traditional activities, and family fun. The annual event celebrates Métis heritage while fostering connection, learning, and community pride.
Kelly Myers, Captain of Fort McMurray District 17, tells CFWE this year’s McMurray Métis Fest is set to be bigger than ever, with an expanded lineup of activities, entertainment and experiences planned for attendees throughout the weekend.
Myers highlights a variety of activities planned for the festival, including a scavenger hunt, talent show featuring multiple categories, a moose call competition, and 22 artisan vendors showcasing their work throughout the weekend.
Myers emphasizes that the festival is free to attend and offers and opportunity for people of all backgrounds to learn about Métis culture, traditions, and identity.
