With warmer temperatures comes wildfire season, and the Lac La Biche Fire Department is now urging community members to start taking the necessary steps to prevent wildfires from occurring.
Lac La Biche Fire Chief John Kokotilo spoke with CFWE on the steps that residents within Lac La Biche and surrounding communities can take, from being cautious with campfires, to obtaining a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit.
Kokotilo speaks on the working relationships with First Nations and Metis communities such as Beaver Lake Cree Nation, Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, Heart Lake, Goodfish Lake and Kikino Metis Settlement, adding that with mutual agreements comes with responses to high risk wildfire situations that would affect the communities with resources provided by Lac La Biche County and the province of Alberta.
