The 47-year-old coach went 135-77-21 in three seasons as head coach in Edmonton, as well as leading the team to two straight Stanley Cup Finals, falling to the Florida Panthers in both series.
The Edmonton Oilers have fired head coach Kris Knoblauch and assistant coach Mark Stuart.
Knoblauch, who led the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final in 2023-24 and 2024-25, posted a 135-77-21 regular-season record over his three-year tenure with the franchise.
“Following a thorough review of this past season, we believe these changes are needed. We are grateful for the contributions both Kris and Mark have made to our organization and we wish them the best moving forward,” said Stan Bowman, Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.
Knoblauch was hired partway through the season in 2023. He had recently signed a three-year contract in October of last year, which was set to go into effect at the start of the 2026-27 season.
