The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will be holding a special meeting on May 19 in Anzac, as the community marks the 10-year anniversary of the Horse River wildfire.
The meeting will take place at the Anzac Recreation Centre at 5 p.m. on the 19th. Agenda items will be focusing specifically on issues affecting the Anzac area.
Residents can attend the meeting in person, or on the municipality’s Youtube channel following the session.
The event will focus on reflection, wellness and community connection as residents remember the 2016 wildfire, which forced the evacuation of nearly 90,000 people from Fort McMurray and surrounding communities.
More information about the wildfire anniversary programming can be found on the RMWB website.
