Imperial Oil says there have been no reported effects to wildlife or water from a bitumen leak in eastern Alberta.
Imperial spokesperson Lisa Schmidt says a pipeline that leaked a bitumen and water mixture 32 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake is being cleaned up and assessed.
Schmidt says the release was stopped and contained.
Alberta’s Energy Regulator says recovery efforts are nearly complete and a wildlife mitigation plan is underway.
It says snow fencing has been placed around the perimeter to restrict wildlife access.
Both regulator inspectors and Imperial representatives are investigating the cause of the leak.
