A new children’s book celebrating Métis culture, music, and family is set to release this spring. The Best Gift Ever written by Wilfred Burton and illustrated by Natalie Laurin and published by Heritage House, tells a heartfelt bilingual story in English and Michif about a young girl’s bond with her family and the traditions that connect them.
Wilfred Burton, author of The Best Gift Ever, shares with CFWE the inspiration behind the children’s book, highlighting a Mooshum and Granddaughter’s bond through the power of the fiddle.
Burton adds he hopes readers see themselves in the granddaughter and feel inspired to achieve their goals – even those once set aside.
