Team Alberta North finished the 2026 Arctic Winter Games on a high note, placing third overall in the medal standings.
Alberta earned 127 medals, including 39 gold, 42 silver and 46 bronze.
Alaska led at this year’s games, with 227 medals, while Yukon & the Northwest Territories rounded out the top four.
More than 2,000 athletes, coaches, cultural performers, and officials from across the circumpolar North gathered in Whitehorse for a week of competition, culture, and connection.
Participants travelled from Northern Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Alaska, Nunavik (Northern Quebec), Sápmi (cultural regions in Scandinavia), and Greenland (Team Kalaallit Nunaat) competing and celebrating together in one of the North’s largest international sporting events.
