Lakeland College in Lloydminster is set to host a day of Indigenous Storytelling on February 12, bringing together Knowledge Keepers and Storytellers for a full day of cultural teachings. The event at the Alumni Theatre will feature sessions on horse teachings, the medicine wheel and more.
Tinisha Jordan, Manager of Indigenous Support Services at Lakeland College, tells CFWE she’s looking forward to hosting the event, building on last year’s success as excitement and RSVP’s continue to grow.
Jordan encourages students and alumni to sit near the stage in the Alumni Theatre to hear Elder Perry Moosapayo’s horse teachings and apply them to daily life.
Jordan adds the event offers both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples a chance to learn about Indigenous history and oral traditions through storytelling.
