The Canada Men’s Soccer team will return to Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium on June 1 for a friendly against Uzbekistan as part of its final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mayor Andrew Knack tells CFWE he is excited to have soccer return to the Alberta capital for the first time since 2021, when Canada beat Mexico in a 2021 World Cup qualifier.
Erin Crowe, Canada Soccer’s Chief Operating Officer, tells CFWE that the energy at Commonwealth will give the soccer team the ultimate send-off.
This marks the second time Canada and Uzbekistan have faced off. The Canadian men defeated Uzbekistan 2-1 in June 2016 a friendly in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria.
