The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a male inmate who allegedly escaped from the custody of the Stan Daniels Healing Centre on New Year’s Day.
At approximately 1:47 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, Correctional Services Canada (CSC) reported that Shelby Crane, 33, escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre when Crane was unaccounted for during a count by staff members.
Crane is currently serving a 10-year six-month sentence for manslaughter – use firearm, possession of weapon for dangerous purposes, and obstruct public/peace officer.
A Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large has since been issued for his arrest.
Crane is described as 6’2” tall and weighs approximately 214 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair and several tattoos, including the crook and castle logo and medusa on his right forearm, “Marlene” on his right hand, “Marilyn” and “Mya” on his right upper arm, a flower themed sleeve on his left upper arm, an “S” on his left hand and a cross on his left wrist.
