From December 18 to Christmas 18 to Christmas Eve, Dan Johnstone – better known as Can Man Dan – will camp out in a box truck outside the Belmont and Southbrook Sobeys to collect donations for the Edmonton Food Bank.
Dan Johnstone, Founder of the Can Man Dan Foundation, tells CFWE the week-long campout aims to raise 50,000 pounds of food for those in need.
Johnstone says the community continues to rally behind the fundraiser year after year, adding that with the continuous support from previous years the goal may be passed from the donations collected in this years fundraiser.
Johnstone says the fundraiser is accepting non-perishable donations, including canned and boxed food, adding that every child deserves a hot meal and a toy to open this holiday season.
