RCMP in Fort McMurray are seeking a suspect in a theft and arson that occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
At approximately 3:26 am., Police responded to a report of a building on fire in the downtown area where they learned that a Komatsu loader had been seen driving on Prairie Loop Blvd prior to striking 8104 Fraser Avenue and catching fire. As a result, the building and loader sustained significant damage.
Video surveillance was obtained by RCMP and the suspect was captured fleeing the scene on foot, prior to police arrival.
The suspect is believed to have knowledge and experience operating this type of piece of equipment.
Mounties continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP
