Police in Fort McMurray have charged two people with unrelated matters following the arrest of 21 people in a drug trafficking investigation.
Wood Buffalo RCMP says the arrests happened at a Hill Drive home at 11:30 a.m. on October 17. The investigation began earlier in the month after police received complaints about suspicious activity at the home.
When police arrived at the home, there were 21 people inside the home or on the property. Police found trace amounts of suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Staff Sgt. Sabrina Clayton could not confirm how many people lived at the home or why they were at the property, but two residents of Fort McMurray were charged on unrelated outstanding warrants for shoplifting.
“The remainder of the occupants were released from police custody without charges at this time,” reads a statement from Wood Buffalo RCMP.
Anyone with information about any missing people or criminal activity is asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
