Mayerthorpe town council accepted the regional policing report from the Mayerthorpe RCMP during the councilors’ August 25 regular meeting. The report covers the quarter from April 1 to June 30 of this year. The Mayerthorpe Detachment covers the Town of Mayerthorpe, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation and the Sangudo, Green Court, Rochfort Bridge and Glenevis areas of Lac Ste. Anne County.
“This report provides a snapshot of human resources, financial data and crime statistics for the Mayerthorpe Detachment,” Cpl. Jamie Robertson wrote in a statement.
The report shows numbers that property crimes at 116 for this part of 2025, down from 139 this time last year. Numbers were on the downtrend in breaking and entering (17 cases, down from 26 in 2024), thefts worth under $5,000 (15 cases) and fraud (four cases, down from 15). the report states that thefts worth over $5,000 dollars were unwavering at four this year and four last year, while vehicle thefts were up to 18 this quarter, from 15 last year.
Mischief cases were also up in this quarter of 2025, with 28 cases causing property damage compared to 20 in 2024. Other mischief cases (not causing damage) were slightly up to 14 in this quarter of this year.
Contrary to property crimes, crimes against persons were up in this quarter of 2025, to 73 from 59 in 2024. Assault cases were up to 46 in 2025 (from 42 in 2024) and threats were up to 18, from 12 last year. Sexual assaults were down to two in 2025 (from four in 2024). There were no cases of robbery or offences relating to death this quarter, and none last year, according to the report.
Altogether, there were 224 Criminal Code cases this quarter, down from 247 last year.
