Red Dress Day, observed annually on May 5th, is a National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S) in Canada. It was inspired by Métis artist Jaime Black’s REDress Project, which involved hanging red dresses in public spaces to represent the missing and murdered Indigenous women.
