Early Monday morning, police say a driver was headed the wrong way on Anthony Henday Drive is now facing charges after a crash. Investigators determined an eastbound Volkswagen Jetta and westbound Acura TLX crashed around 4:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes between Calgary Trail and 111 Street.
Westbound Anthony Henday Drive was still closed as of 8 a.m. from Calgary Trail to 111 Street for the investigation. Traffic was being diverted back to 91 Street.
The 22-year-old driver of the Acura was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A passenger in the sedan, identified by police as a man in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
A 40-year-old man driving the SUV was taken to hospital as a precaution.
