One man is facing multiple charges stemming from 2 separate bank robberies in central Alberta.
On July 17, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., a male suspect entered the CIBC bank located at 100 Mcleod Avenue in Spruce Grove, Alta.
The male walked up to a bank teller and handed a note which stated that this is a robbery, he had a gun (not produced) and demanded money. The male then left the bank on foot. The robbery was captured on bank CCTV video.
The following day on July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., EPS responded to a Robbery at the Servus Credit Union bank located at 2315 Rabbit Hill Road in Edmonton. A lone male suspect had walked up to a bank teller stated that this is a robbery, demanded money and that he had a gun.
Investigators from the two police services quickly determined that both robberies were likely carried out by the same person.
On Sept 14, Jacob Luke Mcdonald (30), a Chilliwack B.C. resident was arrested in Chilliwack and transported back to Alberta and now faces two robbery charges along with additional charges.
McDonald is set to appear in a St. Albert court room on Sept. 23, 2045.
