Edmonton’s Capital Power has signed a three year agreement with Nations in Central Alberta made up of Louis Bull Tribe, Ermiskine Cree Nation, Montana First Nation, and Samson Cree Nation, known collectively as the four nations of Maskwacis.
Construction of the 126-megawatt project 100km southeast of Maskwacis will start in December. After the completion agreement the four First Nations will have an opportunity to acquire a 25 per cent ownership stake in the project.
Conversations between the Four Nations and Capital Power started one year ago. The agreement will benefit both parties, providing long term financial return for all four nations involved.
