A 47-year old man is dead following a late night pedestrian collision in downtown Edmonton.
Late Sunday night at approximately 11:50 p.m. downtown patrol officers responded to call near 120 Street and 113 Avenue involving pedestrians.
An SUV was travelling Northbound on 120 Street where a man and a woman were walking on the roadway. The driver did not observe the pedestrians and they were struck by the vehicle.
The 47-year old male suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. The 30- year old female fled the scene on foot and was tracked down at a nearby coffee shop. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was takin to hospital by EMS for precautionary reasons.
Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the accident and EPS Major Collision has since taken over the investigation.
