The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has launched a FireSmart home renovations rebate program.
Homeowners looking to upgrade their residences with fire-resistant materials can apply for grant funding from the municipality.
“Living within the boreal forest, wildfire is the number one risk in our region. We must continue to weave FireSmart into our communities,” Regional Fire Chief Jody Butz said. “By assisting our residents in reducing the impact of wildfire on their homes and properties, we improve our community resiliency one home at a time.”
Eligible upgrades include roofs, windows, decks, siding, and other renovations. Rebates range from $1,000 for fence upgrades to $4,000 for siding.
To receive a rebate, residents must book a free FireSmart Home Assessment online or by calling Pulse.
Additional details on how to apply for the rebate program will be provided during the assessment.
