The Edmonton Oilers had to play 4 periods before Connor McDavid scored the OT winner, propelling the Oil to a game 1 victory over the Dallas Stars on the road 3-2. McDavid also added an assist for a two-point night, joining Wayne Gretzky as the only two players in NHL history to record 20 assists through 13 or fewer playoff games.
Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl were the other goal scorers for Edmonton while Tyler Seguin provided both goals for Dallas.
Adversity is nothing new to Head Coach Kris Knoblauch and his team over the playoffs, he spoke to media following their victory and praised his groups effort and ability to overcome.
It’s been an up and down post-season for Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, but he was on his A-game tonight making key saves throughout the game and limiting Dallas’s offensive output to just two goals. He evaluated his game following the victory.
The Oilers will look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead tomorrow night in Dallas at 6pm. Edmonton will come home for games 3 and 4 Monday and Wednesday night.
