An Edmonton man and woman are facing numerous charges, stemming from an Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Special Projects Team investigation into stolen property and firearms.
In late March of 2024, an investigation was initiated into a residence in the area of 105 Street and 38 Avenue. A search warrant was executed by police on Mar. 31, 2024, when a 39-year-old female suspect was taken into custody, and arrest warrants were requested for a 37-year-old male suspect for his involvement.
As a result of the investigation, the seized property included:
-A stolen 2022 Honda CBR650 motorcycle, worth approximately $10,000
-A stolen 2007 Kawasaki EX650A motorcycle, worth approximately $3,500
-A 3D printed handgun that was located inside a trailer with a stolen license plate attached
On Apr. 23, 2024, the 37-year-old male suspect was arrested in the area of 142 Avenue and 80 Street in a stolen 2008 Honda Civic that was determined to have been re-vinned.
The suspect was in possession of a loaded revolver upon arrest, and in performing a search of the Civic, police located an additional loaded handgun, an automatic rifle with over-capacity magazines and an assortment of ammunition.
“We are experiencing an alarming number of firearms in the stolen vehicles that we deal with,” says Sgt. Ian Vickers of the EPS Southwest Special Projects Team. “These circumstances are making it increasingly dangerous for our officers and the public.”
Damien Wayne Thomas Sharp, 37, is facing 21 charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle (x3), careless use/storage of a firearm (x3), knowingly possess prohibited/restricted weapon and possession of stolen property over $5,000 (x2). His next court date is May 24, 2024.
Chantelle Ann Cullum, 39, has been charged with possess stolen property under $5,000 (x2), possess stolen property over $5,000 and unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon. Her next court date is June 18, 2024.
