The Edmonton Oilers are going to reset and try to tie their series with the Vancouver Canucks at 1-1 heading back to Oil Country for games three and four.
The Oilers found themselves up 4-1 in the second period but gave up four unanswered, losing 5-4 in game 1. Priority number one for the group will be answering back with a win and splitting the series before coming back home.
Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who has 8 points in six playoff games so far spoke to media ahead of their game two matchup, mentioning they need to do a better job of closing games out.
As game 2 looms, questions are beginning to develop around Leon Draisaitl’s health, Oilers play by play announcer Jack Michaels shared the practice lines for the Oilers, with veteran Sam Ganger filling in the top 6 for Draisaitl.
With uncertainty surrounding players like Draisaitl and newcomer Adam Henrique, head coach Kris Knoblauch couldn’t provide many details besides both guys being ‘day to day’, but did mention the importance of having depth, especially during this time of the year.
The Oilers have now dropped all five meetings with the Canucks, counting regular season and playoffs. Game two will have a 8pm puck drop in Vancouver, game three will be in Edmonton on Sunday and game four will be on Tuesday. Both games in Edmonton will have a 7:30pm puck drop.
