An 11-year-old boy who was killed in a dog attack in south Edmonton on Monday night
Has now been identified and confirmed that he was a Grade 5 student at Osoyoos Elementary School in British Columbia and was a visitor inside the home where the attack took place over the Easter long weekend.
The school district was notified about the boy’s death by his family yesterday morning,
The district immediately coordinated its critical incident team to have counsellors there for assistance for staff and students when they were told about the incident just this morning .
According to the school district’s superintendent, students returned to school Tuesday after spring break. But there are still lots of questions and emotions.
According to Edmonton police services the file remains under investigation and there is no information regarding charges at this time . The dogs are currently under the care of the city of Edmonton’s animal control department.
According to the city, animal control peace officers have previously been called to the house. In the past year, officers responded to multiple barking complaints, resulting in warnings and one ticket, over the course of the last year.
The city also added that peace officers have responded to two attack complaints isolated to inside the home on previous occasions. One complaint concluded without charges and the second remains under investigation.
