The Edmonton Valley Zoo has welcomed two new female arctic wolves to their pack.
The unnamed pair came from the Parc Zoologique CERZA in Hermival-les-Vaux, France.
Zoo officials have spent more than a year searching for suitable companions for their existing arctic wolf, Tundra, after his partner Shilah died in 2022.
The two and three-year-old sisters are from different litters, and are not currently available for public viewing as they must spend 30 days in quarantine and adjust to their surroundings.
The sisters will be introduced to Tundra in stages, to make sure they are all comfortable with each other.
After being monitored by staff, the trio will be moved to a brand new 5000m² arctic wolf habitat, which is under construction and is set to open this summer.
The arctic wolf is a subspecies of the grey wolf, and live in northern regions of North America and in Greenland.
