A weekend fire in the Queen Alexandra neighborhood caused $5 million dollars in damage and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said the fire was started deliberately.
Reports first started coming in at 5:30am Saturday at 80th Avenue and 106 Street. EFRS say the fire was deliberately set for warmth and ended up getting out of control and spread vertically up the building. Crews had the fire controlled just after 10:45am on the same day.
At this time, residents don’t have a timeline on when they’ll be able to return to their building which suffered $5 million in total damages.
Edmonton Police have now taken over the investigation.
