The World’s Longest Hockey Game is an annual fundraiser event for cancer research and this year will be a little different from years past, the organization will be doing a Jr game.
The opening ceremonies will begin at 3pm on January 25th with a speech from Oilers legend Kevin Lowe.
Brent Saik is the organizer of the hockey game and says this years matchup will be played by junior players aged 10-16. The game has raised over $8M since it’s started and this year’s goal is $500,000.
Saik spoke with the Windspeaker Radio Network discussing how this game came to fruition more than 20 years ago.
Saik shares ways people can show their support either through donations or by watching the game itself.
The Jr’s World’s Longest Hockey Game will take over Saiker’s Acres in Sherwood Park from January 25th to the 28th and you can find details on their website to get involved.
