Edmonton city hall has been evacuated after loud bangs could be heard Tuesday morning.
At approximately 10:25 A.M. , the noises were heard in the background of the Emergency Advisory Committee meeting.
Shots were fired Edmonton’s city hall and a Molotov cocktail was thrown from the second floor according to Police.
As a precaution, the meeting was immediately put into recess.
One city councillor confirmed that the building was evacuated.
Edmonton City spokesperson Cheryl Voordenhout confirmed that the Edmonton Police Service was investigating a weapons complaint.
“One person has been arrested and police are doing a sweep of city hall. Roadways around city hall have been closed and citizens are asked to avoid the area,” according to the EPS spokesperson.
Surrounding roads around city hall were closed,off and residents were asked to avoid the area.
