Albertans have until Feb. 15 to submit nominations for the provinces highest honour.
The Alberta Order of Excellence recognizes citizens who have made a significant and lasting contribution to their communities. Members include Olympians, scientists, volunteers, leaders in business, and artists. Over 200 Albertans have been awarded the province’s top honour since it was established in 1979.
Becky Scott whose early skiing life was in Vermilion was inducted in 2019, last year Cold Lake’s Audrey MacFarlane who founded the Lakeland Centre for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder joined the ranks, and in 2004 Wainwright’s Bryan Perkins was inducted for his agriculture and community contributions.
Nominees must be Canadian citizens currently residing in Alberta and, if selected, must be able to attend the investiture ceremony.
