The City of Edmonton has launched two new bus routes for vulnerable citizens to access downtown shelters this winter.
The overnight bus routes will be open from now until March 31st with two routes operating daily.
- North route starting from Northgate Transit Centre to downtown, 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- South route starting from Southgate Transit Centre to downtown, 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Hani Quan is the Housing Policy and Partnership Manager for Community Services in the City of Edmonton and discusses the need for these services across the city
When Edmonton activates their Extreme Weather Response (three consecutive days with -20 weather) a third bus will be added. Quan goes on to mention other services that vulnerable citizens can access.
